Industry update on the
City of Cape Town court case to procure energy from Independent Power Producers

Topic: In the light of the recent developments surrounding the City of Cape Town's court case to be allowed to procure its own power from Independent Power Producers, we hosted a virtual event with Kadri Nassiep, City of Cape Town Executive Director, Energy and Climate Change Directorate. 
 

 

 

 

As mentioned, South African Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, has gazetted for public input the draft amendments to the Electricity Regulations on New Generation Capacity. The draft amendments are aimed at clarifying the regulatory regime applicable to municipalities for procurement or development of power generation capacity. The public has 30 days from the date of gazette to provide comments.
