City of Cape Town requests comment on Utility Services business plans

The City of Cape Town is calling on interested parties to comment on the Water Services Development, Integrated Waste Management and Electricity Service business plans, to help the City achieve its goal of being a Well-run City and improve service delivery.

The Electricity Services Department Development plan will address a number of immediate and medium-term threats, which have impact on the City of Cape Town Electricity Services Department and pose risks to sustainable service delivery in the medium term.

They include increasing tariffs above the consumer price index, the need for investment into infrastructure (in terms of new demand and refurbishment), skills shortage and challenges associated with carbon emissions, climate change, renewable energy and new technologies.

Deadline for comments: 31 May 2013.
