On behalf of the Department of Environmental Affairs you are cordially invited to attend a consultation event regarding the Draft National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy.
Earlier this year the draft National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (NCCAS) for South Africa was gazetted for public comment (attached for your information). The NCCAS is aimed to serve as South Africa’s National Adaptation Plan, which will fulfil the country’s international obligations as outlined in the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The NCCAS provides a common vision of climate change adaptation and climate resilience for the country, and indicates priority areas for achieving this vision, together with a set of strategic objectives, interventions, and associated actions. The NCCAS is not only targeted at national government but aims to provide guidance across all levels of government, sectors, and stakeholders affected by climate variability and change.
To promote additional input and comment from stakeholders the DEA will be hosting a consultation event aimed at the Non-Governmental Sector as follows:
Venue: In Pretoria. Exact Venue to be confirmed.
Time: 9am to 12 noon
If you are unable to attend the consultation event please submit written comment using the attached commenting template by 17 June.
