Whatever may come out of the climate change talks in Durban this week, the good news is that SA is steaming ahead with its renewable energy programme.
On Wednesday night, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and ministers from the UK, Gremany, Denmark, Norway met with SA’s energy minister Dipuo Peters to sign and seal the funding partnership that will underpin the SA Renewables Initiative (SARi).
The aim of the initiative is to enable the roll-out of renewables to the kind of scale needed to have the dual impact of significantly tacking climate change and at the same time to support industrial development…
