*South African state-owned power utility Eskom, has announced that it may implement stage 2 loadshedding today.*
“There is a high probability of Stage 2 rotational loadshedding from 09:00 until 22:00 today as a result of the loss of additional units overnight,” the parastatal said in a statement.
Stage 2 calls for 2,000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period.
Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.
